Either call the number on the back of the card or open up a chat with them online. Many times they will waive annual fees, service fees, or even interest fees (assuming interest fees aren’t common for you - otherwise, not likely to be waived).
You: “Hello, I hope you’re having the best day of your life! Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I’ve noticed that I was charged a fee for ______ on my credit card. I would like to see how you can waive that fee for me.”
If they say they can’t: You: “I so appreciate your generous time, and I understand you yourself are only allowed to offer so much, so I’m happy to take this up with a supervisor. How can you connect me?” (Then start from the top).
Feel free to also remind them of how long you’ve been a loyal customer, other competitors offering better deals, and if interest fees, let them know you usually pay on time and don’t incur them (assuming that’s true), and they’ll oftentimes refund those fees.
The reason this often works is because these companies compete with each other and are often willing to go the extra mile to win over your business.
