Click here to watch a video of this step.

  1. Click on Accounts in the left sidebar

  2. Click on +Add Account

  3. Start typing in the name of each institution you have an account with

    1. Check accounts

    2. Saving accounts

    3. Investments

    4. Retirement accounts

    5. Credit Cards

    6. Loans

    7. Mortgage

    8. Store credit cards

    9. Venmo

    10. PayPal

    11. Apple Pay

    12. Etc.

      1. When you see an institution that you use, click on it

      2. Enter your login details

      3. You may be prompted to provide verification for some accounts

  4. Use the Assets account category to add your assets not linked to an institution

    1. Home value (use the Zillow connection and provide your address)

    2. Car value (use the Vehicle connection and add your VIN)

    3. Cash

    4. Etc.

  5. If you cannot find an institution that you use, add it manually by clicking on Add Manual Account

    1. Once you add it manually, go back and click on Request New Connection at the bottom of the +Add Account box. This will allow Monarch Money to try and add the connection for your institution.

  6. If you have more than one account for a single institution, when you click on it, it will pull up the existing connection. At the bottom, choose Continue and you can set up the next connection without interfering with the one you already added!

  7. If you have one login for an account that you share with family members and you only want to include your portion of it in the app, you can hide your family members’ accounts using the method below

    1. Click on the Account, choose Edit the account, and then you can choose to hide the account in your list, hide the balance from your net worth, and/or hide the transactions from cash flow/ budgets

  8. If you are having trouble connecting with your institution, you can change the connection at the bottom of the Add Account box by clicking on MX or Finicity. These two options function the same as Plaid (the default connection you tried first). We have found this to be especially useful for accounts related to Citi. If you continue to have trouble, add the account manually and request the connection from Support.
